Our process
5 easy steps
Part of what makes Bachpad such a simple solution is our streamlined process. We take care of business from start to finish. We work with you to select, build and deliver your home from our Bay of Plenty factory within five months, so you can start making the most of it right away.
STEP 1 - GET IN TOUCH
Whether you’re ready to buy or have a few questions, we’d love to chat. Our team can give you advice and guide you through the early stages of the process, from choosing your ideal Bachpad to site surveying and Geotech reporting. We’re happy to point you in the right direction to help you find any resources you need to get your Bachpad installation underway.
STEP 2 - GETTING STARTED
To get things moving, we have a single fixed-fee, non-refundable deposit of $5,000+GST NZD which includes the Resource Consent application stage.
You can find information about this in our Terms and Conditions. Please note, the deposit does not include consultant fees for Geotech (approximately $2,500+GST) or a Planner (approximately $1,500+GST) and the lodging of your Resource Consent application.
You will need your legal certificate of title, which should be on file with your Sale & Purchase documents or it can be searched for separately.
With this underway, we can work on obtaining resource consent.
STEP 3 - CONSENTS
To ensure your space is suitable, you’ll need to apply for, and obtain, resource consent. The Bachpad team is on hand to prepare your documents, ready for you to lodge with the council for processing (usually 4-6 weeks).
While that’s all underway, the fun can begin. You’ll meet with the Bachpad team so we can start planning your Bachpad.
Next, you’ll need to apply for Building Consent. We’ll give you a hand with the documents again and once lodged with the council, this should take around 4-6 weeks to process.
Because of Bachpad’s standardised design, it’s usually just the foundation and site-works that require site-specific processing, so this will save you time and speed up the process.
Now onto the exciting part.
STEP 4 -
PRE-CONSTRUCTION
Now it’s time to build your Bachpad, your home will come to life over a short period. Offsite manufacturing techniques will also be underway in safe, secure facilities. This will take around 6-8 weeks.
STEP 5 - TRANSPORT /
INSTALLATION
With your Bachpad complete, the next step is to introduce you to the transporter who will deliver and install your foundations.
With your Bachpad foundations secure and services connected, you can occupy your new space and begin arranging your home insurance.
The local council will issue its Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) after its site inspection. Note, this process can take a few weeks and your insurer will need to see this when it’s complete.
In the meantime, you can sit back and relax. From conception to completion your new Bachpad will be ready in just five months.
